Trinidadians Clifford and Esdelle Co-Winners of
women’s MVP |

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, June 7, 2009.-
Courtnee Mae Clifford and Krystle Esdelle of
Trinidad & Tobago were elected as co-winners
of the Most Valuable Player title of the
women’s second round tournament Norceca-C of
the 2010 FIVB World Championship.
Clifford received three awards during the
closing ceremony of the competition as best
digger, best receiver and best libero and
Esdelle was the best spiker.
Sinead Jack, also of the home team
champions, received the recognition as the
best server.

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, June 6, 2009.-
Hosts Trinidad & Tobago defeated Netherlands
Antilles claiming the final top position of
the women’s Norceca-C second round
tournament of the 2010 FIVB World
Championship.
The home girls won by score of 25-16, 25-16,
25-11 advancing to the next round in Cuba
for the Norceca-F event on June 21-23
against Guatemala, Nicaragua and the host
side. By finishing second, Netherlands
Antilles will go to play in Norceca-G round
in Orlando, United States against Costa
Rica.

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, June 6, 2009.- U.S.
Virgin Islands held-off a Bermuda rebellion
to win a five-setter by score of 27-25,
25-21, 13-25, 10-25, 15-6 qualifying to the
next stage of the 2010 Women’s FIVB World
Championship as bronze medal winners of
Norceca-C round.
After dominating the third and four sets,
the Bermudians lost the momentum and became
easy victims of the shots coming from the
other side of the net during the
tie-breaker.

Suriname finished fifth in Women’s Norceca-C |

SPAIN, Trinidad, June 6, 2009.-
Suriname defeated Aruba in straight
sets 25-10, 25-20, 25-13 in the match
for the fifth place at the Norceca-C
second round tournament of the 2010
FIVB Women’s World Championship.
Juliet Lester with 9 points and
Eleonoor Hunsel and Charmaine Kasters
with eight apiece were the top scorers
for Surinam. Jackie Toussaint had 9
points for Aruba.
“To compete at this level has been a
good experience and we have to do it
more often,” said Haydee Renardus, the
captain of Suriname.

Trinidad &

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, June 5,
2009.- Hosts Trinidad & Tobago
advanced to the final match of the
Norceca-C second round tournament with
a victory over Bermuda and in the
process also booked a ticket for the
third stage of the 2010 FIVB Women’s
World Championship. They won in
straight sets by score of 25-16,
25-11, 25-12.
The Trinidadians will play against
Netherlands Antilles for the gold
medal on Saturday with both sides
already qualified to next round’s
tournaments in Cuba and United States
depending on which team finishes first
or second. Bermuda will meet U.S.
Virgin Islands for the bronze.

Netherlands Antilles’ women booked ticket

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, June 5,
2009.- Netherlands Antilles booked a
ticket in the third round of the 2010
FIVB Women’s World Championship by
edging U.S. Virgin Islands in five
sets by score of 25-14, 20-25, 21-25,
25-23, 15-10 advancing to the final
match of the Norceca-C phase.
The three teams that make the podium
here will move up to the next level of
the world competition. The winners go
to Cuba, the second to Orlando, USA
and the third to Dominican Republic.
Once again Christine Anthony was a key
contributor to the victory of her team.

2009.- Hosts Trinidad & Tobago won
Pool A of the women’s Norceca-C second
round of the 2010 FIVB World
Championship by trouncing Aruba in
straight sets 25-12, 25-8, 25-9.
On Friday, the home girls will meet
Bermuda in the semi final phase of the
tournament while Netherlands Antilles,
winners of Pool B, will meet U.S.
Virgin Islands.
Jalicia Ross and Sinead Jack each had
11 points for Trinidad & Tobago and
rookie Channon Thompson added 8.

Netherlands Antilles to a five-set
victory over Bermuda in the first
match of Day Three at the Norceca-C
second round 2010 FIVB Women’s World
Championship. The score was 25-21,
20-25, 21-25, 28-26, 15-13.
Netherlands Antilles finished with a
2-0 win-loss record in Pool B and will
meet on Friday the second placed team
in Pool A which will be U.S.

Day Two at the Norceca-C women’s

FIVB World Championship. The score was
25-23, 25-12, 25-8.
The home owners recovered from a slow
start and impressed by their physical
talent and solid spikes and serves.
The loss left Virgin Islands with a
1-1 win-loss record in Pool A and the
Trinidadians next play Aruba (0-1).

Christine Anthony recorded 37 points
leading Netherlands Antilles to a
26-28, 25-16, 25-20, 25-17 victory
over Suriname in Pool B of Norceca-C
women’s second round tournament of the
2010 FIVB World Championship.
It was the first outing in the
competition for the winning side,
while Suriname dropped to a 0-2
win-loss record and was left out of
the second phase of the event.
Cristal Gregorious and Claudette Van
Arneman had 10 and 9 points
respectively.

Sacha Gumbs and Janelle Sarauw each
recorded 15 points for the winners
while Danielle Selkridge added nine,

Cruz is not taking anything for granted as
his side is considered by many as the team
to beat in Norceca-C second round

Cruz talked to the media hours before the
start of the tournament and is of the idea
that most of the teams have the same level
and therefore he is expecting a very

champions of the past two editions of
the Caribbean Tournament, are

the Women’s World Championship to be

of West Indies University on June 2-6.
A strong competition for the top place
is expected to come from the veteran

Norceca-A in Saint Martin..
